Diane Sullivan was my first boss. She was the Tutorial Coordinator of the Learning Center at Citrus College. My first job was a Math Tutor at the college. I started October 1983. This started my long career in public education. Diane was patient and kind. She trained us and helped us through the paperwork to get hired and our monthly time cards and backup sheets. She supported the tutors when we wanted to hold Saturday sessions for Math Final Prep. Students were grouped by class. The tutors were assigned specific classes to review. Tests were created based on the material from previous tests and the textbooks. Diane also supported me when I branched out and developed a program in dBase III+ called STARS (Student Tracking and Reporting System). This was a student database to keep track of attendance in our various courses: our non-fee non-credit classes (Tutoring, Study Hall, other events we sponsored) and our credit classes (Study Skills, Reading, etc.).
I count Diane as one of my friends. Over the years we have lost touch, but her guidance and influence is still important to me.
Thank you, Diane, for all you have done for me.
