No in November!

There are many propositions on the November 2005 ballot. Over the next few days I will be posting information regarding these important issues. Let me give you the run down of some of the important propositions and how I will be voting this fall.
  • Proposition 74 - Public School Teachers. Waiting Period for Permanent Status. Dismissal. Initiative Statute: This propositon will increase the time before teachers become permanent employees from 2 years to 5 years. I will be voting NO.
  • Proposition 75 - Public Employee Union Dues. Restrictions on Political Contributions. Employee Consent Requirement. Initiative Statute: This proposition will impose an annual written notification before public unions can use portions of members dues for political reasons. These protections are already in place. This is an unnecessary law and will silence our voice in June 2006 when another attempt to take away our pension plan will be on the ballot. I will be voting NO.
  • Proposition 76 - State Spending and School Funding Limits. Initiative Constitutional Amendment: This proposition would give the governor of California the power to cuts spending without any Legislative review. Targeted is Proposition 98 that the voters passed to guarentee a minimum level for education funding. I will be voting NO.
  • Proposition 77 - Redistricting. Initiative Constitutional Amendment: This proposition would redistrict legislative districts mid-decade the Census data used will be out dated. This is more about a power grab rather than true reform. I will be voting NO.

More later :)
