Well Arnie really seems to have it in for school employees... He uses the red herring of teacher merit pay, he is dismantling the retirement system that CSEA built. He wants to replace the defines benefit plan with a defined contribution plan. This is a lose-lose situation for the employees and the State. More information from CalPERS.

Today was our chapter meeting. It has been a week of LONG meetings. The first was the Governing Board Meeting that went until 11:15 for most. The Governing Board did not get out of there until after midnight. The Personnel Commission meeting was late also.

In a couple of weeks, the District is holding a Budget Advisory Committee to help ease the $688,000 deficit in our budget.

This is going to be a most interesting year.
